Design Project:
Master Bathroom
Focus: Remodel a tired 1960’s Master Bathroom into a sophisticated and elegant space.
Biggest obstacle: This project was renovated during the beginning of Covid-19, when the industry first started to see major delays. For this project, tile was a large contender for delays. While working on the project, the initial tile proposed quickly became unavailable and so the contractor/tile installer and I pivoted and came up with a new solution- utilize what tile we had and continue the accent tile further around the bathroom than originally planned.
Identify Problems &/or Client Requests:
Swinging entry door hits shower door when opening.
Vanity was too low, with very little storage inside.
Shower had a low ceiling height and was small square footage wise, with a 6” high step- not safe and too high for an aging couple.
Ventilation did not work
Overall outdated
Solutions:
Change swinging entry door to bathroom into a pocket/ sliding door.
Move vanity and make larger for more storage.
Turn shower into a safer and curb-free space, for an aging couple.
Update and change out all old fixures such as vent, toilet, lighting, trim work, etc.
Use half of the Master Closet space to turn into new shower area, as shown in photos below.
